Summer Classes at Tandy Leather
Summer classes start this weekend!
- Classes run from 9-11:30 each Saturday morning. Please arrive early to get settled in.
- $25.00 to attend each class.
- You must bring your own tools (stamps, mallet, knife, etc) and supplies for each class. Any leather and class specific materials will be provided.
- You must confirm your attendance in each class by phone or email to the store before the Friday before the class. First to come first serve, limit of 7 per class.
- If you cannot attend for any reason after confirming, please let us know.
- If you have any special requests for class topics, please let us know and we may set one up for later in the summer or fall. We’re happy to teach but even happier if it’s a topic you want to learn about!
Belt Making - Saturday July 13th
In this class you will learn how to make a belt from scratch. You will get to cut your belt right
from a full hide and learn about setting hardware, edging, measuring for fit and putting on
your buckle. If time allows, some stamping may be done in this class but not required. Dyeing
and finishing will be done at home.

Belt Buckle Making - Saturday July 20th
In this class you will learn about making and assembling a leather belt buckle to the metal
hardware. There will be tooling/ stamping and dyeing if time allows.
**** Requires the purchase of metal belt buckle blank.
Lacing and Stitching - Saturday July 27th
Learning the different lacing techniques for finishing edges including whip stitch, buck stitch,
double loop lacing. Choosing the lace you need for a project and which holes to punch first for
each lacing project. Stitching will include learning to saddle stitch, finishing off the stitch and other helpful hits and tricks along the way. Sorry, no machine sewing in this class.
**** Must have a project that is ready to stitch or lace for this class.
Bracelets - Saturday August 3rd
Bracelets are an easy and quick leather project for any ages. In this class you will learn to size
bracelets to your wrist, cutting them from a piece of leather, setting hardware, decoration,
finishing edges and the thousands of different styles and designs that are possible.
Wallets from Scratch - Saturday August 10th
In this class you will learn to make a simple billfold wallet from scratch with tooling leather, a
liner with the option to lace or stitch. It’s recommended that you are experienced with lacing
or stitching and/or take the class beforehand.
Dyes and Finishes - Saturday August 17th
This is an experimentation class! We supply you with all the dyes and finishes and you can
bring a project ready to dye and finish with our guidance or you can just come and
experiment. You will learn about different dyes we carry and how to get the best results, resist
dying, different finishes.
**** Optional: A project to dye and finish. Without a project you will be using scrap pieces.
Holsters - Saturday August 24th
This class is all about properly sizing a holster to fit a gun and learning key techniques about
design specific to holsters. It’s recommended that you are experienced with lacing or stitching
and/or take the class beforehand.
**** Dummy moulds will be provided for full size semi-automatic pistols. Please leave guns at home.
Hardware - Saturday August 31st
Not sure what kind of tool you need to complete a project? Having trouble setting snaps or
rivets? Our most popular class is hardware where you will have a chance to learn about setting
snaps and rivets, installing a buckle on your belt, making adjustments to a strap, what the
tools we carry are all used for and how to sharpen them. If you have ever seen something and
wondered how it was made and how to use the tool this is the class for you. Bring along a
project you are struggling with or just experiment with setting hardware and using tools.
**** Optional: Bring in a project you need help with.
